Cooper Elementary is located atop Pigeon Point Hill in West Seattle and serves children in grades  K-5.  Cooper students and teachers enjoy the benefits of school-wide, state-of-the-art technology, a large, well endowed Library with 12,000 books and spacious, light filled classrooms.

Our new, expanded environmental focus is The EARTH Project at Cooper.  This program will integrate art and technology into an environmental strand that will run through our entire curriculum.  We will be using our surrounding greenbelt and also our future on-site habitat as our outdoor classrooms for this new exciting program.  We will use this focus to further support our goal of preparing our students to be citizens of a global society.

The teachers and students participate in a National Science Foundation program, an NCTM approved Mathematics program, and a balanced literacy program including the
Accelerated Reader.  Classes in Technology, Library,  Physical Education and Instrumental Music are also offered on a regular basis.

Cooper’s culturally diverse program supports second language learners and bilingual staff provide assistance to both students and parents in Spanish, Cambodian, Vietnamese, and Somali.

Cooper Elementary  houses two classrooms for K-5 students with Autism Spectrum Disorder. The Service Providers work integrally with these and other special needs students.  They include a Psychologist, Speech/Language Pathologist and anOccupational/Physical Therapy site.

Cooper has an extensive after school program (Community Learning Center). Children in grades 2-5 spend time with tutors working on skills instruction, completing homework, and participating in various enrichment classes such as CPR, Drama and Arts & Crafts.

The YMCA at Cooper includes full-day Preschool and before and after school childcare.  Programs offered are NAEYC accredited and the curriculum is aligned with the Seattle Public Schools learning standards.  The program is open 7am-6pm
